Gobble Gobble-Thanksgiving Holiday!

This year we traveled back to Lawrence to celebrate Thanksgiving Holiday. We enjoyed the holiday by celebrating with my parents, Jenny, Kyle, family friends the Miller's, and Selena my parents college exchange student from England. Selena is wonderful company and we always enjoy learning all about the differences between the American and English cultures. John enjoys talking to Selena about his time at the University of Warwick in Coventry, England and hearing about her experiences at KU. Since this was Selena's first true Thanksgiving Holiday the Gwaltneys made sure she tried every traditional and non-traditional holiday dish…we stuffed her silly with turkey, brie, cookies, and pie. She asked if having that amount of food was typical…unfortunately…at least for our family it is :-)

One evening, John and I decided to educate Selena on the art of making sugar cookies, which ended up in a frosting and decorating war! They were both determined to create "the best" cookie. We all laughed because although they tasted great neither John or Selena had stellar decorating skills!

The final product! Good work John & Selena

Friday after Thanksgiving, John and I headed over to Kansas City to meet his sister Carrie, Mike and my nieces Abby, Emily, and Caroline, and his other sister Amy and her husband Adam for dinner at Union station. I had not been there in so long and it was an extremely pleasant surprise. It was beautifully decorated with Christmas lights, Holiday Trains, and the Festival of Trees. We enjoyed an AWESEOME 4 course meal and then walked around to look at all the trees for silent auction. The first place winner was so neat and was decorated with a theme of the Grinch Stole Christmas-How Clever!
